Have you noticed the Orange Box on the Fire Tablet’s screen? What is it and how can it be fixed?

This week, I received a letter from a visitor to this blog who was having trouble with her Fire.

She informed me…

“When I use my Fire, a giant orange box appears on the screen, with everything inside it magnified. I can’t seem to get rid of it no matter what I try, so I have to turn off and restart my Fire to continue using it. The box appears at random intervals. I’m not sure what it is, and I’m not sure how to stop it.”

Fortunately, this isn’t a significant issue, and it’s simple to avoid. I’ll show you how on this page!

On the screen of my Fire tablet, you can see an example of the orange border.

What you’re witnessing is the Fire tablet’s’magnification’ function in action (and many other Android devices too).

While it may appear to happen at random, it is actually triggered by pressing the screen three times.

It’s a highly useful function once you figure out how to use it, allowing you to zoom in on an element on the screen and pan about.

It can be annoying if it appears without you realizing what prompted it, especially if you can’t figure out how to turn it off.

Simply tap the screen three times more to turn off the orange box on your Fire tablet screen!

So, it takes three taps to turn it on and three taps to turn it off.

When you know how, it’s simple!

How to Turn Off the Magnification Feature on Your Fire Tablet

If you don’t need this function and are tired of accidently activating it, you can disable it completely.

Tap ‘Accessibility’ in the options menu.

Tap ‘Magnification’.

Toggle the ‘Screen Magnifier’ to off.

This warning will appear; simply press ‘Continue’ (this is not irreversible; you may always change your mind later).

The magnification feature is now disabled, so no more orange boxes will appear on your screen, no matter how many times you press!

You’ll be prompted with this screen if you ever turn this function back on, which explains how to utilize it.
